NORTH CAROLINA -- Flood waters are prompting several road and bridge closures across our area.

  • Flooding has caused road and bridges to close in the Triad.
  • The closures may last through the weekend.
  • Officials are taking precautionary measures for people's safety.

Officials say they expect some of them to last through the weekend with more rain in the forecast.

At least one road collapsed in Stokesdale and crews made two swift water rescues in High Point Thursday.

With flooding now spread across several counties, people in charge of our local lakes are taking precautionary measures.

"We're shutting down the entire Salem Lake Trail as well as the Salem Creek Greenway due to the flooded conditions. It can pose a hazard cause you might not see hazards underneath the water as well as the fast moving water we have in some places,” said Bobby Hege with Winston-Salem Parks & Recreation.

People with Winston-Salem Parks and Recreation say Salem Lake will be closed to any water activities for the next few days, or at least until water levels are back down to normal.
