STOKES COUNTY, N.C. -- The alcohol ban along the Dan River in Stokes County is impacting tubing companies this summer.
- Alcohol ban took effect in 2016
- There were complains of rowdy behavior and littering
- Police are issuing citations to people drinking alcohol or littering
The ban on people drinking alcoholic beverages on the river went into effect in 2016 after county officials received complaints of rowdy river use and littering.
While police have been enforcing the ban, people are still managing to have a good time even without the alcohol.
"You come down to relax and I don't see the problem with having some alcohol to relax but don't get drunk and stupid and ruin it for everybody," tuber Jody Safriet said.
Police are issuing citations to anyone littering or drinking alcohol while floating the river.
