HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Dogs in High Point officially have a new hangout spot!

  • New dog park opened Friday morning.
  • Dogs must be registered to use the park.
  • Proof of a rabies vaccine must be shown.

The city opened its first public dog park Friday in the already existent Hedgecock Park.

The park has two off-leash areas, dog fountains and benches spread around the area.

Each dog has to be registered before they can enter the park. You also have to have proof of your dog's rabies vaccination for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Dog registration is free through July 1.

You can visit the Parks and Recreation Department on Northpoint Avenue to register or go online.
