A person is dead after a fire broke out in an apartment building on the Upper West Side Monday afternoon.

The FDNY says the call came in for a fire around 4:30 p.m. Monday at 120 West 105th Street.

FDNY Deputy Chief Joseph Carlson says the fire was located in the rear bedroom of an apartment on the fifth floor of the building.

Carlson says a man found by firefighters in that bedroom was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two firefighters were also transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, and one other person refused medical attention at the scene.

The fire is under investigation.
