DURHAM—It's all hands on deck in the Bull City, where the city could see a few inches of snow Wednesday.

“Really depending on the timing of the storm, but we're going to be working 12-hour shifts until we're through with this weather event,” says Marvin Williams, director of Public Works.

Crews spent Tuesday making sure trucks were filled with brine solution and diesel. They pre-treated primary roads and bridges.

“If this really comes in as rain initially and then turn into snow, that's going to be problematic for us because then it creates a layer of ice on the streets.”

Once the snow falls, officials are advising drivers not to abandon their vehicles in the middle of the roads.

“If you don't have to be out during this weather, we ask that you do stay off the roads. Allow our crews to work.”

They're also keeping an eye out on construction sites to make sure cars don't accidentally fall into open areas.

“So the big thing is having an excavation or having a steel plate in the road we don't know about and our plows pushing that plate out the way.”

They say once the snow falls, it could take a few days to plow and clear most of the roads.
