JAMESTOWN, N.C. -- A car accident knocked out power to nearly 2,500 people in Jamestown Thursday morning.
The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Fire crews say only one car was involved with no injuries reported at this time.
One church canceled their preschool classes, while a nearby elementary school was able to operate with a few adjustments.
"We had a lot of parents and families that woke up in the dark as well. You just try to get here and assess your situation and try to determine, 'OK, is this still going to be a safe situation for our students to be on campus?' Knowing that our days are precious and we want to make sure that we have instruction that can go on," said Teddy Wohlgemuth, Florence Elementary School principal.
Power was restored in the area by 1 p.m.
