LANCASTER, Calif. — Twenty-six-years to life — that was the sentence handed down to a Lancaster man convicted of killing a 23-year-old man with a hunting bow and arrow.
Twenty-six-year-old Garrett Taylor Adams was convicted on May 22 of one count of first-degree murder with allegations of mayhem along with the use of a deadly weapon, a bow and arrow.
He was sentenced on Friday.
Prosecutors say Adams got into an argument with his girlfriend back in August 2014.
He then got into a fight with another man outside of their home.
Adams then retrieved a compound bow and razor-tipped broadhead hunting arrow from his house and threatened the man.
Prosecutors say after following the victim down the street for a considerable distance, Adams shot him with the arrow, striking him in the chest.
The victim later died at the hospital.
