NATIONWIDE -- Two Carolina cities are among the most dangerous cities in America, according to a new report
The Safewise Report listed popular vacation destination Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as the third most dangerous city in America. Lumberton, North Carolina was right behind at fourth on the list.
According to the report, Myrtle Beach saw a property crime rate of 143.86 per 1,000, and a violent crime rate of 15.75 per 1,000 people. In Lumberton, the rates were almost as high at 139.38 per 1,000 people for property crime and 16.65 per 1,000 for violent crime.
Additionally, North Myrtle Beach also came in 23rd on the overall list.
The report is based on recent violent and property crime data published by the FBI.
The report also reveals that large cities like New York and D.C. aren’t on the list because the data is adjusted to per capita rates.
