ASHEBORO, N.C. -- A man is facing charges after allegedly hanging a noose in a tree near his property near some signs directed at his neighbors.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office said they went to 59-year-old Jeffery McDaniel's home on NC Highway 42 Thursday in reference to the signs he'd posted on his neighbor's property line referencing his neighbors' ethnicity.         

McDaniel has been charged with communicating threats, trespassing and placing an exhibit with intention of intimidating others.

He was placed under a $7,500 secured bond and is awaiting trial.
