ALBANY, N.Y. -- A bike collided with a CDTA bus in Albany, killing the man riding the bike.

Police say it happened around 3 p.m. Saturday.

They say the 42-year-old man on a bicycle was traveling east on Wilson Street and going down a hill, when he collided with a CDTA bus at North Pearl Street.

Police say he wasn't wearing a helmet.

"The CDTA bus was driving southbound on North Pearl Street," said Lt. Michael Barone, Albay Police Department. "The bicyclist failed to negotiate a stop, collided with a bus and the fatality ensued."

Police are trying to figure out why the man on the bicycle failed to stop.

No one on the bus was hurt, however the bus driver was taken to Albany Med to get checked out.

Police say no tickets have been issued and it doesn't appear any tickets will be issued.
