ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A local record store open for nearly three decades has decided to close up shop by this fall.

Lakeshore Record Exchange on Park Avenue says it's started a liquidation sale and will close once everything is gone.

Open for 29 years, owners say changes in technology have brought the store's purpose for being open "to its natural conclusion."

The store says it will maintain its streaming radio station and Alternative Music Film Society, a monthly film series.

A farewell event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 20th at the Memorial Art Gallery.
