PALMDALE, Calif. — Payless ShoeSource is closing a second round of stores after filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy this April.

The shoe company initially said it was closing about 400 locations — 378 of those in the United States.

The company has asked a federal bankruptcy judge to let it close an additional 408 stores — two of those being in Palmdale.

The locations are at The Place on 47th Street as well as Palmdale Promenade.

These additional closures bring the company's total to about 800 this year.
