WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Tickets for the Winston-Salem Open went on sale Monday.
So far big names like Steve Johnson and North Carolina's own John Isner have committed to the tournament.
Organizers said planning for the event starts a year in advance.
"We like to engage the fans and ask them ways we can make improvements and continue to think ahead,” said Associate Tournament Director Amy Knudson.
One of the big changes this year will be when the finals are played.
"We are making some really big changes late in the event; our doubles final will be Friday and the singles semi-finals only at night and moving the singles final to the evening on Saturday," said Tournament Director Bill Oakes.
Isner is returning to the tournament this year.
"Getting John to come back was our highest priority,” said Oakes. “He's 12-0 at the Winston-Salem Open. He's never lost and his best results at the Grand Slam the following week have been when he's played here."
Oakes just returned from the French open and said he expects more big name players to commit soon.
"Last year, we were named the ATP 250 Tournament of the Year and that's by the players,” said Oakes. “So, that meant the players think we do a really good job. So when I was at the French Open this past week it was actually a lot of fun because players now come up and talk to me."
Besides the matches, there will be other events fans can enjoy from a Kids Day to Military Appreciation and Ladies Day.
The Winston-Salem open runs August 19 - 26.
