PALMDALE, Calif. - A man shot and killed in Palmdale became involved in an argument with the suspects in another vehicle before he got out of his vehicle and was shot, authorities said on Monday.

It happened at about 5:50 p.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of Laurel Avenue, according to Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The man got back into his vehicle and was driven westbound to the 37000 block of Julian Lane, Moody said.

The man suffered at least one gunshot wound to his body and was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

The suspects fled in a light-colored sedan westbound from Julian Lane, Moody said.

The victim was a known gang member, the deputy said. His name and age were withheld pending notification of kin.

No suspect description was available, Moody said.
