BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- After more than 2 years of fundraising and close to a decade of planning, the Broome County Humane Society officially opening its doors to a brand new facility.

The new location on Conklin Avenue is more than double the size of the old one, which the society has operated out of for more than 70 years.

The organization has been without the proper space to handle the growing demand for services in the area. The new facility can now house nearly 70 dogs and up to 200 cats.

The Humane Society's executive director says she never thought this day would come.
