BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The prosecution has rested its case in the Dwight Burton murder trial. The day was highlighted by one witness, who says Burton admitted his guilt.

Ronald Dixon III, an inmate at the Broome County Jail, was called to the stand Thursday afternoon. He shared a pod with Burton and also happened to be the children's uncle.

He claims he overheard Burton say "I did it. I wanted her to die." When Dixon approached him, Burton allegedly told him "I killed your nephews and I'm going to get away with it."

The defense grilled the witness about what he would get from testimony. He admitted he could face less time for his crime.

After the prosecution rested, the defense made a motion to have some charges dropped, because one of the victims wasn't called to testify. Jessica Baxter allegedly told investigators she would lie on purpose.

Testimony will continue Monday morning.
