A longstanding Central New York company is being taken over by one of the biggest names in the construction business.
Lehigh Hanson reached an agreement to acquire all of the Saunders Companies' assets, including multiple ready mix concrete and aggregate plants.
Saunders has been in the community for more than a century. Lehigh Hanson officials say this will help the organization expand its operations across the region and state.
Saunders employees received a letter Friday about the deal. In a statement, Lehigh Hanson says they haven't made any promises to Saunders' nearly 120 employees, but will begin the process of having them reapply.
The deal is expected to go through in the coming months.
