MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Police have identified the teenager killed while crossing Route 17 in Orange County.
Police say 15-year-old Hope Vandermark of Middletown was crossing Route 17 Thursday night with a group of teenagers when she was hit by a car and killed.
The driver of the car that hit Vandermark has not been charged and stayed after the accident.
Police do not believe the driver was impaired, distracted or speeding.
Troopers say it was dark out and the victim's dark clothing seem to play a part in the crash.
