After a more than yearlong overhaul, residents in Ozone Park got a chance to check out their newly-renovated library Friday.

The Ozone Park Community Library officially re-opened for business Friday morning. It shut down in April 2016 for a $2.1 million overhaul.

The library now has a teen section, extra computer stations and a new meeting room.

There is also a new automated check-in/ check-out machine.

“My mouth flew open wide when I walked in the door,” said resident Linda Tonofrio. “It's awesome. It's gorgeous.”

Officials say it was important to bring the 40-year-old facility into the 21st century.

“I think it was really outdated in the past and the opportunity now to create a new library, a renovated library is very important to the community,” said Jerome Myers, Ozone Park’s Community Library Manager.
