Central Texas is now home multiple In-N-Out locations, but just ask, and you’ll find a grip of Texans willing to to go to bat for Whataburger.

After the somewhat new advent of California-based In-N-Out in the area, an unspoken “beef" between Texas' iconic orange “W" and California's palm treed In-N-Out has arisen.

And this debate is getting national attention — Munchies, Vice's food website, found the hostility is statewide.

"Beloved in its home state of California, the cult favorite burger chain just can't seem to get love in the Lone Star State," reads the Munchies piece about why Texas hasn't fallen for In-N-Out.

History of Whataburger

Over six decades ago, Harmon Dobson opened his first burger stand, located on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas. There are now more than 790 locations nationwide.

History of In-N-Out

In 1948, Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first In-N-Out Burger in Baldwin Park, California. After spreading out through California, the chain has expanded into Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Texas and Oregon.

Are you a diehard Whataburger-er or dedicated In-N-Out-ist?
