ORLANDO, Fla. – Fresh Express is recalling its Organic Marketside Spring Mix salads that were sold at Walmart stores throughout the Southeastern U.S. after a dead bat was found inside a package in Florida.
The five ounce salads have the production code G089B19 and a best-if-used-by-date of April 14, 2017. The packages have the UPC code 6 8113132897 5 located on the bottom of the container.
The Centers for Disease Control say two people ate some of the salad before noticing the bat.
The bat was sent to a rabies lab but it was too deteriorated to tell if it had virus.
Consumers who purchased the recalled salad should throw it away and not eat it. A full refund is available where purchased or by calling the Fresh Express Consumer Response Center at (800) 242-5472 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
