It's one of composer Stephen Sondheim's most popular works, but told with a twist: It's the Park Playhouse's adaptation of the award winning musical "Into The Woods," but instead of being set in the woods, the story is told through the eyes of a child narrator in an attic.
"You will totally enjoy the same songs, but you need to keep an open mind on the concept and let the magic really speak to you," said actress MacKenzie Campbell.
"We see this young boy who is literally shaking the dust off the stories and showing how it's relevant to him today," said director Marc de la Concha.
It still has all the classic characters like Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and Baker and his wife trying to have a baby. The roles are played by students of the Park Playhouse's advanced program.
"These kids are fantastic. They come from all different schools, all different areas of the Capital District, so it's really great to see where they're coming from and what they bring to the table," said de la Concha.
The actors hope the audience enjoys all the hard work they've put in.
"It has a very touching ending, and I want them to walk out of here feeling happy," said actor Jake Goodman.
Into the Woods is playing at the Cohoes Music Hall through April 9. For more information, go to www.parkplayhouse.com.
