AUSTIN, Texas -- A viral video of a chicken that was posted on Facebook has taken the world of social media by storm.
The video was posted by Facebook user Fitim Sejfijaj, the morning of March 17, as he wrote “Shikim te kendshem merakli” in Albanian, which in English means “Enjoy watching Merakli.” People immediately jumped on Twitter to both question the authenticity of the chicken, or express their fear of the bird.
However, The Livestock Conservancy confirmed in a Facebook post that the chicken is indeed real, and is called a Heritage Breed Brahma Chicken
The organization said on its website that this particular breed is often referred to as the “King of All Poultry.” The Brahma chicken is known for its great size and strength. In 1901 some individual female birds were documented to weigh between 13 and 14 pounds for hens and males weighing up to 18 pounds. The birds can be used for both their eggs and as meat.
