NORTH CAROLINA -- A community is coming together to support an Elon University student who was hit by a car last week.

Molly Offstein of Frostburg, Maryland, was running on a street near the university on March 6 when she was struck by a car as she tried to cross at an intersection. She is a freshman, a member of the school's cross country team and a distance runner on the track and field team.

Offstein was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and remains in a medically induced coma.

Community members back home in Frostburg have launched the campaign, #ShowUsYourShoes, hanging running shoes in front of their homes, to show their support for Molly and her friends and family. The campaign has taken off and has spread beyond Frostburg to Elon and other cities.
