DURHAM – A man was pulled from a Durham home early Monday as flames tore through the structure.

It happened just before 1 a.m. in the 1000 block of Calumet Drive in north Durham.

Fire officials said the man was found unconscious and was removed from the home within a minute of crews entering the building but he did not survive.

He was the only person inside the house.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.

Neighbors say the man who lived in the home had a dog but fire officials say they didn't see a dog during the fire. A deceased dog was not found either.

Fire officials have determined that the blaze started in the kitchen and was ruled accidental in nature.
