On Tuesday, two additional tornadoes were confirmed by the National Weather Service, bringing the Sunday night/Monday morning total up to nine in all.
In Hays County, what's being called the "San Marcos/Kyle Tornado" reportedly touched down at 11:26 p.m. 7 miles NW of San Marcos near the intersection of RR 12 and Hugo Road with peak winds estimated up to 100 mph, making this an EF-1 on the enhanced Fujita tornado scale. The twister was on the ground for 9.75 miles and had a maximum path width of 300 yards, according to the NOAA storm survey. The tornado moved northeast and crossed the Blanco River before lifting 2 miles SW of Kyle around 11:35 p.m.
In far NE Hays County, storms spawned a weaker EF-0 tornado 2 miles NW of Niederwald at 11:48 p.m. With peak winds estimated up to 85 mph, the twister appears to have been on the ground for 3 miles with a maximum width of 100 yards. The tornado was on the ground for 3 minutes, lifting 1 mile NW of Mustang Ridge just east of SH 130.
