RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Snow could be heading to much of North Carolina this weekend.
The National Weather Service in Raleigh on Thursday issued a winter storm watch for 25 counties in the central part of the state. A winter watch was already in effect for 10 counties in the Piedmont. A winter weather advisory is in effect in the far western mountains.
Forecasters say the alerts are in effect from Friday afternoon in the west through Saturday evening in the central part of the state.
Rain is expected to change to snow Friday evening first in the western part of the state. Three to 5 inches of snow is expected from Brevard all the way to Raleigh and south to Fayetteville.
From 1 to 2 inches is expected in the far west.
