NATIONWIDE -- When Thanksgiving dinner is all said and done, sometimes the leftovers can cause a bit of a mess. Thankfully, people are there to help clean them up.

"We're able to help somebody out,” said Nakwan Walker of Roto-Rooter. You know, come in the house and be Superman."

But these aren't superheroes. They're plumbers.

The day after thanksgiving is the busiest day of the year for plumbers in America. Calls to Roto-Rooter alone jump 50 percent above normal on Black Friday.

"This is what we call ‘fourth quarter,’” said Walker. “Just like in football, we throw our four fingers up and say 'Hey, let's go out there and serve some of these people.'"

While many Americans shop, the plumbers get down and dirty.

The plumbers say the blockages they see the most after Turkey Day involve either sewer lines or some stray food clogging up a sink.

"When they're wrapping up the meal, they'll throw in some extra meat or accidentally throw in a bone or two,” said Walker. “They sometimes even throw in a fork."

No matter what obstacles they find, the plumbers are going to try and fix them and that can leave customers in a very thankful mood.

"We were able to unclog a kitchen sink and fix toilet issues,” said Walker. “The customer was definitely satisfied."
