You've eaten, maybe you've shopped. There may be one more thing on your list to do today: head to the ASPCA.
The organization is holding its sixth annual "Cat Friday" event today in Manhattan.
All fees are being waived on cats and kittens, and anyone who adopts an adult cat gets a free carrier.
The adoption center stresses there are hundreds of animals looking for a home right now. But prospective owners should think carefully about it before making any pet decisions.
"We encourage everybody who's thinking of getting a pet as a gift to make sure that the recipient is able to care for the pet and also wants it. And then we do encourage you to make sure everybody in the household is on board, and that includes any furry family members as well," said Joey Teixeira, senior manager of the ASPCA Adoption Center.
