SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. -- Ready or not winter has arrived.

"We love it," Lester Dunn, of Springville said.

"Well, half of us do," Florence Dunn added.

For the Dunns it means a lot of shoveling.

The couple was busy early Monday morning optimistically digging out Village of Springville's buildings.

"You got to think positive," Florence said.

"We're luckier than other parts the country," Lester chimed in.

"Yeah, we don't have mudslides, floods, yuck," Florence said.

Across the street Mariah Schaus is in no hurry to head inside.

"I'm not as big of a fan of the warmer weather," said Schaus, whose from Arcade. "So, I prefer this."

She already has plans to enjoy the blustery conditions.

"I like to take my dogs hiking out in this kind of weather, it's nice," Schaus said.

Then there's Alex Zeman.

"I hit the snooze button a couple of times in hopes it would all be a dream," Zeman said.

But now, well, he's living his own personal nightmare.

"Now it's off to work and I have to work outside," Zeman said.

Love or hate the piles of snow, gusting winds and the mess that follows, the Dunn's say all we can do is keep shoveling on.

"This will go away," Florence said. "My mother always used to say we'll have a squaw winter, which we got and then an Indian summer. That's what we want."

For those wishing for warmer days -- there are 211 days until summer.
