AMHERST, N.Y. -- Western New York's first Whole Foods store is set to open next year.

Work is ongoing at the Northtown Plaza on Sheridan Drive in Amherst. Boston-based WS Development bought the property in spring  2015 with plans to make Whole Foods the centerpiece of their project.

A Whole Foods spokesman confirmed the 50,000-square-foot store will be open next summer.
