CHARLOTTE -- Things are now back to normal at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Headquarters after the building was evacuated because of a suspicious package Tuesday afternoon.

Aside from officers and other employees who were inside this building, media was also at the building and the NAACP who planned to drop off a list of demands to police after Keith Scott was shot and killed by an officer last week.

However, that never happened because around 4:30 p.m. an employee saw a suspicious package in the mailroom.

One of the department's bomb-sniffing dogs came in and signaled it could be dangerous.

The building was evacuated as a bomb squad technician worked for three-and-a-half hours to remove the device from the mailroom.

After that, it was safely taken to another location.

Police still have not said where the package came from or who sent it.
