Ramseur, NC - Eastern Randolph High School held a memorial service to honor a former student who died in the September 11th terror attacks.

Students, faculty, and staff were among the people gathered Friday to remember Sandy Bradshaw.

Bradshaw was a flight attendant on United Airlines flight 93, one of the hijacked planes.

The school holds this annual event to remember Bradshaw and pay homage to those who have given their lives for the freedoms we enjoy.

The school also honored former students who were soldiers who lost their lives overseas.

It may be hard to believe but most of the incoming freshman class wasn’t even alive when 911 took place.

"But you can't really understand the future, if you don't understand the past. Things have happened that shaped this nation, and that was one of the tragic events that have helped to shape, unfortunately, with the new war we have to fight on terrorist," said former principal of Eastern Randolph High Ed Todd.

There will be a moment of silence Sunday morning at 8:46 a.m. at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
