NORWICH, N.Y. -- It's been a quiet summer across Chenango County so far, but on Monday night heavy rain quickly caused flash flooding, in a number of areas, including the town of Norwich.
The rain pummeled down local hills and valleys, causing this home on Route 36 to fill with water.
Amber Rowe's family lives on Route 8 where the rain caused significant damage.
No injuries were reported but the brief storm was said to drop about 4 inches of rain in just a half hour temporarily closing numerous roadways giving local cleanup crews plenty of work to do.
A huge chunk of concrete was ripped away from a bridge on Route 51 in Mount Upton. Crews were on scene all morning were assessing the damage, but it's an area that will be closed for quite some time.
