"Pokémon Go," the augmented reality mobile game from Nintendo and developer Niantic Labs, is now available for both iOS and Android.
The app first went live in Australia and New Zealand before becoming available in the U.S. The date for launch in the United Kingdom, Canada and other markets is still unknown.
The game uses smartphone camera and sensors and location-based algorithms to place Pokémon in the real world.
As users travel around to landmarks and notable locations in their cities, they can catch the creatures and then train and battle them at gyms.
Created by Niantic, the maker of a similar AR mobile game "Ingress," the app was made in collaboration with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.
