An Olympic Gold medalist and Brooklyn-born track star got a special send-off Monday ahead of next month's summer games in Rio de Janeiro.

Justin Gatlin was joined by some of the city's youngest runners at City Hall.

Gatlin, who won gold during the 2004 game, is set to compete in his third Olympics.

He said he wants to the pass the torch down to the next generation.

"Coming back here to Brooklyn, coming back here to New York, is something that I want to give back as well," Gatlin said. "So this is my first step making that donation, doing things in the community."

"He just makes me wanna run, and he's made it to the Olympics so he makes me try my best so I can make it to the Olympics," one young track enthusiast said.

Gatlin qualified for Rio after winning the 100-meter and 200-meter finals at the U.S. Olympic trials over the weekend.
