Residents came out in droves Thursday for the opening day of a new 24-hour supermarket in Charleston.
The new ShopRite superstore is on Veterans Road and features a staff dietitian available for free meal planning, consultations or store tours. In addition to regular super market fare, the store has a Chinese buffet, a Dunkin Donuts and Reggiano’s pizzeria.
“They really are in the need of a supermarket of this size in this area,” said customer Robert Lufrano.
“Our goal was to provide a supermarket that's more like a marketplace and provided some services and departments to our customers that aren't customarily given,” added store owner Kevin Mannix.
Mannix also operates two other ShopRite locations on Staten Island.
