SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It was Lakeview Amphitheater's biggest show yet, and the fans were out in force Wednesday for Dave Matthews Band and concertgoers were incredibly excited to be a part of these festivities.

Many say DMB is a one-of-a-kind concert, and the venue was the perfect place to enjoy their type of music

"They're the kind of band that rocks out," Ilion resident Marvin Hayes Jr. said. "They jam. So it's kind of like a jam, a good time. There's no set, specific type of genre. It's a universal genre of music, so all cultures can enjoy it, all people can enjoy it."

More than 15,000 people took in thoe show as it was the biggest crowd the young Lakeview Amphitheater has seen.

Concertgoers say it's the perfect venue for the band.

"You have the lawn, then you have the stadium seating, so I like that because the acoustics travel through the stadium and out into the lawn," New Hampshire resident Jonathon Clark said. "And I like the lawn because it's more of a friendly party scene, you don't have assigned seats, you get to walk around and meet different people."

Many fans didn't wait for the music to start to kick their party off.

"It's almost like going to a Bills game or any football game," Syracuse resident Aaron Drumgold said. "You're outside with other people who love what you love, all different people from all walks of like just getting together, hanging out."

Those who arrived early say they're glad to see a no-tailgate policy not strictly enforced.

"It is the Amphitheater's first real experience with a large concert of this volume, so I think as more concerts go on they're going to get more and more relaxed or understand how the fans react to certain situations," Clark said.

And for the Dave Matthews Band, fans say it's nothing, but good music and good times.

One issue brought up after the Ringo Starr performance earlier this year was the amount of dust kicked up in the area as cars exited the venue. Crews addressed the problem by watering down the area to prevent the excess of dust.
