GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. - A gay-rights advocate is headed to the state legislature for its annual session later this month by the Democrats in North Carolina’s third-largest county.
Members of the Guilford County Democratic Party selected Equality North Carolina Executive Director Chris Sgro Saturday to complete the term for Rep. Ralph Johnson, who died last month.
Sgro says he was selected because local democrats from the 58th district want a voice in the legislature for the LGBT community.
