MONROE, N.C. - The highway patrol said a child involved in a car accident in Union County Monday has died.
The crash happened on East Village Drive in Monroe.
Investigators said a truck crossed the center line and hit a van head-on.
The highway patrol said the driver of the truck, Richard Moss of Charlotte, died at the scene.
An adult and three children in the van were taken to the hospital.
The highway patrol said one of the children who was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, later died.
The other two children and the driver of the van are expected to be okay.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
