CLEMMONS -- If you love doughnuts and the Panthers, there's an obvious way to cheer on the team.

Krispy Kreme is making Panthers-inspired doughnuts in honor of their run at a Super Bowl win.

Krispy Kreme customer Larry Blackburn loves his doughnuts. There's one thing he loves more than his stops at Krispy Kreme in Clemmons.

“I really love the Panthers,” said Blackburn with a smile.

Assistant General Manager Robert Bosken says his store sells thousands of doughnuts every month, but the Panthers-themed ones were selling out.

"It's been a great season so far for both the Panthers and Krispy Kreme,” said Bosken.

Bosken says the idea began during last football season. The company decided to carry it over because the donuts were so popular among fans. In the last two weeks, customers have purchased and scarfed down more than 4,500 Panthers-themed football doughnuts from this store alone.

"It's been overwhelming, the response that fans have given us,” said Bosken. “Week after week, we see the people come out in their Panthers shirts and the doughnuts."

Bosken says the Panthers doughtnuts are outselling the Denver Broncos doughnuts which he hopes is a glazed sign from the football gods.

"Based on doughnuts, the Cardiac Cats, the Panthers, will win,” said Bosken. “I'm certainly hoping it's quite the blowout, but we'll see."
