Thousands of hopeful students turned out Friday morning to nab a seat at one of the city's top high schools.
Hunter College High School drew a long line of students waiting to take its entrance exam.
Officials say about 2,500 sixth-grade students are vying for 175 spots in the new class.
The high school, which is run by Hunter College, is seen as one of the most prestigious high schools in the city.
Officials at the school say around 99 percent of the school's graduates go onto four-year colleges, many of them Ivy Leagues.
But students we spoke to showed no signs of worry before today's test.
"Normal reaction, butterflies in the stomach. It's cold, so that's another factor. It's also warm in there so that helps," said one exam taker.
"I'm fine if I don't get into Hunter because I could always go to Stuyvesant or Bronx Science so I'm not that nervous that I won't get into Hunter or just like don't do good on the test because there's always other stuff I could do," said another hopeful student.
The three-hour admissions test includes a multiple choice section and essay.
The future class of 2022 will get their results next month.
