Big changes are taking effect at the Port Authority Bus Terminal Tuesday.
The agency has reassigned gates in a bid to reduce delays and overcrowding during the afternoon and evening rush hours.
Most of the gates for New Jersey Transit buses will be consolidated on the third floor, while most gates for Coach USA buses will be on the fourth floor.
Port Authority officials say these changes will relieve congestion and give bus carriers more flexibility to deal with traffic disruptions.
The changes are expected to affect about 30 thousand weekday commuters.
The Port Authority will display signs and send out workers to direct passengers to their gates.
