HIGH POINT -- The World's Largest Chest of Drawers is packed full-time now. A small business has moved into the famous High Point landmark.

"It's not hit me yet that I have a store inside of the chest," said Shane Phillips, Shane's Collection owner.

In fact, the "World's Largest Chest of Drawers."

"It's funny because you look at the dresser outside and you think, 'Okay, it's big, but it's small. But when you walk inside, you'll see how huge it is," said Wayne Swanson, a friend of Shane Phillips.

Wayne Swanson's friend Shane Phillips owns Shane's Collection in High Point. About a month ago, Phillips moved his interior design business and furniture market sample store into the Triad landmark. He opened the doors earlier this week.

"We've known him for 30-some years and just dropped by to say hey to him and see how everything is going," said Swanson.

Phillips's business is the first full-time tenant in the building since the High Point Chamber of Commerce moved out years ago.

"It's been very well so far for the third day, and I think it's going to be very, very good for us," said Phillips.

Phillips says being in a world-renowned landmark, he expects his business to boom.

"The foot traffic here is unbelievable because of the chest. Actually, I live right next door, so I see the traffic here every day -- people stopping and taking pictures," said Phillips.

And he hopes his other plans will attract even more visitors.

"We are going to do events here. We're going to do art shows. we're going to do a fashion show. We're actually trying to get a fall festival," said Phillips.

A store in a chest of drawers, giving folks from near and far an unusual opportunity to shop furniture inside furniture.

Phillips is planning for the fall festival in the coming weeks. The business will charge festival vendors a $10 set up fee to benefit a homeless shelter in High Point.
