DENTON, N.C.- A known con artist may be back to action in the Triad.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office got a complaint Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015 this week about an appliance owner repair scam.

A homeowner in Denton contacted Piedmont Appliance Repair to fix his broken refrigerator.

Officials said it is the same business name connected to Ronnie Griffin of Winston-Salem who has multiple fraud convictions over the past few years.

This time, they said Griffin sent Crystal Spear of Lexington to the man’s home, and she pretended to work on the fridge, then took the homeowners money.

The man called the business back when he realized the fridge wasn’t fixed. He couldn’t get ahold of anyone.

Police are charging Griffin and Spear with obtaining property by false pretense and failing to work after pay.

They warned the public to get references, check with the Better Business Bureau, and never pay for services before they are done to satisfaction.
