GASTON COUNTY – The Gaston County Animal Shelter is still looking for help in finding new homes for dogs and cats.

Staff members first asked people to consider housing the animals last week when work began on a project to repair the shelter’s floors.

The work is cutting the facility’s ability to house animals in half.

More than 100 animals have been adopted since then.

The shelter still has about 80 animals, which is the maximum they can house, and they say more animals are arriving every day.

Anyone who can adopt an animal is asked to come to the shelter during regular business hours. Visit their website here for more information.
