GREENSBORO—A company that has been in Greensboro for decades is getting a fresh facility.
Ecolab just broke ground on a 37,000 square foot building. Under its roof, 45 new employees will join 500 at the neighboring site. It'll also be a new training facility for Ecolab employees from around the world.
"We bring in to this location several times a year, so we'll be having the training center here as well as customer experience. So, as we gain and grow with our customers, we can bring them in and showcase all of our new innovation,” said Shane Fitzwater, Ecolab VP Supply Chain.
It's an $11 million capital investment, but one that Ecolab leaders expect will pay off.
"It's a challenge at times to have people collaborate into teams together. Bringing everyone under one roof will allow us to expand that knowledge and have everyone working together and support the next 25 years of growth of the company,” said Fitzwater.
Ecolab got a $167,000 economic development grant from the City of Greensboro, $100,000 of financial assistance from One North Carolina Fund and $144,000 in workforce incentives from the state. Officials say it's a solid bet to invest in a company committed to investing in North Carolina.
"They have recognized that the workforce, the quality environment, the relationship with the state of North Carolina. As they said to me earlier, mountains, golf courses, beaches we have it all. Nothing compares to North Carolina,” said John Skvarla, NC Secretary of Commerce.
Ecolab expects to complete construction in 2016.
