WINSTON-SALEM – Police are investigating the death of an elderly woman at an assisted living center.

Police received received a call about an assault last Saturday from the Salem Terrace Assisted Living Center on Salisbury Road.

Opal Galloway, 93, was taken from the scene for medical attention. She died Monday.

Police say the preliminary investigation show's that Galloway was assaulted by another resident.

Polices are working with the NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) to determine if injuries from the assault contributed to Galloway's death.
