WASHINGTON — The Hubble telescope captured an image that looks like a smiley face beaming down from outer space.
It is actually a massive galaxy cluster.
The two glowing eyes are actually two distant galaxies and the smile is the result of a gravitational pull between the two galaxy clusters. It is strong it distorts time and space around them.
The "ring like structure" forming the smiley face is known as an "Einstein ring", named after the man whose theory of general relativity explains the phenomena.
