The Rent Guidelines Board is holding its final public meeting Thursday ahead of a June vote on possible hikes for the city’s rent-stabilized tenants.
Late last month, the board cast a preliminary vote in favor of 1.75% to 4.75% increases for one-year leases and 4.75% to 7.75% increases for two-year leases.
Four public hearings will take place ahead of a final vote on June 25. Any approved changes would take effect on or after Oct. 1.
Tenant advocacy groups, including the recently formed New York State Tenant Bloc, have been calling for a rent freeze.
Cea Weaver, the group’s director, appeared on “Mornings On 1” Thursday to speak on behalf of tenants.
